Built for the ‘go anywhere, anytime’ nature of aviation operations
Inmarsat’s reliable, worldwide SwiftBroadband L-band services have emerged as the standard and trusted means of connectivity on a significant number of government aviation platforms and missions. With SwiftBroadband, government aero users receive assured, uniform global coverage – no matter where in the world they are flying. Thanks to the Inmarsat ELERA network’s 99.9 percent reliability and the rigorous testing on the part of its value-add manufacturing terminal partners, crews benefit from resilient, seamless, redundant connectivity via low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) consumption, whether best-in-class antennas or feature-rich satellite data terminals.
Contended IP data
Delivers a symmetric, always-on data connection per background channel.
Satellite telephony
High-quality voice with the full functionality of terrestrial fixed phone services. Each SwiftBroadband channel provides a circuit-switched voice channel to the aircraft, with an option to add up to eight more with our multi-voice capability using in-built VoIP functionality. All voice services can be used in parallel to the packet data services.
Streaming IP / SwiftBroadband X-Stream
Provides connection rates of 8, 16, 32, 64 or 128k bps. HDR streaming services offers rates up to 700 kbps with options for full channel, half channel, and SwiftBroadband X-Stream. HDR not available on the SwiftBroadband 200.
Multi-channels
Depending on the terminal, you can use up to four channels per aircraft, each delivering simultaneous voice and data communications.
Enhanced data
Allows simultaneous users concurrent access to applications. Data compression allows for optimization of channel usage by conveying larger amounts of data in the same time frame.
Global coverage
SwiftBroadband is accessible globally, except in the extreme Polar Regions.
Secure connections
Compatible with government-grade encryption and secure communications standards, including STU-IIIb, STE, Taclane, KIV-7 and Brent.
