Join Inmarsat Government at the 35th Space Symposium
April 8-11, The Broadmoor Hotel, Colorado Springs, CO
Bringing together leaders from commercial, government and military space from around the world, the Space Symposium provides a forum to discuss, address and plan for future achievements in space.
We invite you to join Inmarsat Government’s own Steve Gizinski and Jeff Galloway as they present “A UAV User’s Guide to Beyond Line of Sight Connectivity” as part of Tech Track 6 “Future Space.”
Current military operations rely on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for a range of Command and Control (C2) and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Many of these missions require Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) communications links which can be implemented using a range of satellite communications (SATCOM) architectures. The range of sizes and capabilities of UAVs, the available satellite frequency bands, and the implemented communications architectures continues to expand. Just as military commanders must choose the appropriate UAV for a given mission, these BLOS options must be carefully considered as well. This session offers a high-level overview of terminal types and related connectivity that can be implemented in support of UAV mission data connections. The goal of this discussion and associated paper is to provide a helpful, high level guide that correlates anticipated performance based on terminal size, weight, and power (SWaP). This will help a UAV user to understand BLOS connectivity options for a specific platform of interest.
